nbt.1- decimal place value
MD.1- Measurement Conversions
OA.1- order of operations (PEMDAS)
A fun song/video to remember the Order of Operations.
Step 2 Example- This example problem shows parentheses inside of more parentheses. This is a great video to watch after having the basic understanding of PEMDAS.
|
Fantastic Order of Operations video using examples with brackets, braces, and parentheses. Explains the difference and how to do problems involving them.
This video shows the difference between using parentheses and not in the same problem. Great video to show how to place parentheses appropriately to get an intended outcome.
|
An example problem using each of the PEMDAS components. Using exponents is really a 6th grade standard, however, it is important for students to understand that they have a part of the order.
A hard problem using several steps of PEMDAS. Students should watch this only if they have a great understanding of PEMDAS and want to challenge themselves.
|
Common mistakes- Watch this video to help understand that even though PEMDAS shows multiplication before division, (M before D), you have to do whichever comes FIRST from left to right.
