Nightly Math Facts
By fifth grade, students should be able to produce 50 basic math facts in both multiplication and division in under 2 minutes. With harder concepts such as long division, finding lest common multiples, converting fractions, and multiplying and dividing fractions, students have a much harder time and are more likely to fall behind in these grade level concepts due to lack of practice or motivation. Students who have not passed the timed math facts assessments will be required to complete repetition of problems throughout the week in addition to their regularly assigned homework. Students are expected to practice these problems along with flashcards in order to support their learning as the year continues. Parents are required to provide a signature for accountability purposes. |

Concept Review
Students can expect to receive homework Monday through Thursday, and occasionally on Friday. Homework will be posted and printable worksheets will be provided when possible. If students (or parents) are having a hard time understanding how to do the homework, they can visit one of the many video websites for re-teaching purposes. If students are still having trouble, they are expected to attempt the problem (so I can see at which step I need to help with), and they are NOT to just leave all of the problems blank. Please see your class period below for homework (absent students are required to make up missed assignments):
